Clinical Consultations

Individual Consultations

Counselling, despite its individualistic nature when in action, is not designed to be a path you walk alone. To hold space for and support people in processing immense emotional pain, to teach coping tools, to help develop insights and awareness, and to celebrate successes is a privileged place to be. It can also be a place of contemplation and questions.

Individual consultations provide you the space to discuss complex cases, develop new professional insights, conceptualize a behaviour through an alternative lens, and talk through some of the heaviness we undoubtably hold as clinicians.

Calm Waters Counselling Collective offers individual consultations provide on an as needed basis or through ongoing support, Folks are welcome to schedule one-time 60 minute sessions or meet on a re-occurring basis.

At this time, Samantha is offering clinical consultations and can be contacted directly or through the contact form.

Areas of consultation and support: Self harm, suicidal ideations and risk, substance use, CBT based interventions, DBT informed interventions, treatment planning.

Who are individual consultations for?

Anyone providing professional support, including clinical counsellors, social workers, therapeutic counsellors (RTC).

Consultations are also available to other professionals such as physicians, psychiatrists, naturopaths, case managers etc who are a part of the care team, and looking for support on how to provide effective care, problem solve or gain another perspective.

Can Students attend individual and group consultations?

Absolutely! Consultation is a fundamental part of learning at all stages in our careers. Students in counselling, nursing, medical, and other post-high school programs are welcome to reach out.

Is consultation the same as counselling??

Counselling and consultations are different! Consultation is a space for developing insights, problem solving and receiving direct guidance. Counselling hold space for the processing of emotions, supports with mental health concerns of the individual and has a therapeutic relationship. While both offer a supportive space and opportunity to learn and grow- they are different. Reach out if you are unsure what best fits your needs,

Team Consultations

Team consultations are a wonderful space to hear perspectives from a variety of clinicians whose clinical training, areas of practice and modalities differ. The importance of alternative perspectives cannot be understated. If we surround ourselves with people of the same backgrounds, experiences and ways of thinking that we have, we grossly limit our critical thinking and creativity.

Consultation Teams allow for a collaborative space to discuss complex cases, seek support with problems solving, treatment planning, or case conceptualization. Learning from others, and offering your insights are what makes consult teams so special and enriching.
