Individual Counselling

  • Anxiety & Stress

Feeling overwhelmed? Thoughts stuck in your head that you can’t seem to let go of? Worrying constantly? A little bit of anxiety is helpful, it drives us to take action. Sometimes anxiety gets to the point where it interferes with our ability to enjoy things, concentrate or complete daily tasks. Our clinicians can help you better understand your anxiety and learn new ways to cope.

  • Depression & Low Mood

Low mood, decreased motivation, struggling with sleep, feeling hopeless, not enjoying the things you used to are all symptoms of depression. We are here to help you come out of the dark times, rebuild energy levels and come back to a sense of accomplishment, pleasure and purpose.

Our clinicians frequently use a CBT based framework, an evidenced based treatment for depression.

  • 2SLGBTQ+ Issues

We honour the experiences of individuals from diverse backgrounds and identities and recognize the unique lens in which mental health is experienced. Our team includes clinicians with lived experiences in the community and with donor conceived persons.

  • Borderline Personality Disorder

The stigma stops here. Calm Waters is a judgement free space where you can develop a better understanding of yourself, your behaviours and the intense emotions. Learn skills through a DBT Informed practice to help you manage emotion dysregulation and improve quality of life.

See our Teams page for clinicians whose primary area of practice is BPD.

  • Alcohol & Substance Use

Support with changing your relationship with alcohol or other substances. We aren’t here to tell you what to do, we aim to help you find the best path forward for your goals, which may be abstinence or it may be harm reduction.

Our clinicians welcome those participating in anonymous based groups and respect those whose recovery path does not include it.

  • Self Harm & Suicidal Ideation

Myth #1: Talking about suicide increases the likelihood of suicide. Counselling offers the space to talk about what you’re experiencing, work through the pain, and come back to life worth living.

We do not provide crisis resources/support. In the event of an emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.
