Where are services provided? Currently, all individual counselling sessions are provided virtually. The availability varies based off of clinician. All clinicians are based out of British Columbia, Canada.

Do you offer direct billing? Direct billing is not available at this time for most clinicians. Clinicians will provide receipts that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement, if applicable. Please verify which services and service providers are covered under your plan/benefits.

Cancellation Policy: 24 hours notice is required in order to cancel a session without a fee.

In line with our goal of inclusivity in mental health care, many of the clinicians offer a reduced fee/low cost session option. These spaces are limited and provided to those who are experiencing financial hardships, are otherwise unable to access low cost or free services or are experiencing extenuating circumstances.

Counselling is available to all BC residents, from Tofino to Victoria, from Vancouver to Kelowna, to Abbotsford and Mission. At Calm Waters Counselling Collective, we make counselling accessible.

Individual Counselling for Youth & Teenagers:

The clinical team at Calm Waters Counselling Collective provides services to youth ages 16+. Upon the request or recommendation of a pediatrician, our team may be able to support ages 14 +.

Counselling for Parents:

Navigating mental health can be challenging and just as your child receives support, we are here to support you as well! Our team can help you navigate boundary setting, behavioural concerns, skill building with your child/youth and improve the overall relationship.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy:

Parent/guardian involvement is highly encouraged when youth are learning DBT skills in counselling. Your child is working hard to learn new ways of regulating their emotions, implementing new coping tools and practicing communication skills. In order to best support them, it is helpful to learn the skills as well. This can be done through family sessions or through individual meetings with your child’s counsellor. Out of respect for privacy, we will not disclose what your child says in session but are happy to provide support and education.

Group Counselling

Feeling alone, as though nobody else has experienced what you have? Feeling misunderstood?

If you are looking for a safe, confidential, non-judgmental space to share your experiences and learn from others who can relate, group counselling might be for you!

Skills groups, such as DBT focus on learning and practicing skills with less of a focus on processing personal experiences. Skills groups may have more of a classroom type feel. Our DBT groups are 6-8 weeks long, focusing on learning the fundamental skills from Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Distress Tolerance and Interpersonal Effectiveness. DBT based skills group for youth age 14 to 18 will be starting Fall 2026.

Calm Waters Counselling Collective also offers process groups which focus on holding space for sharing about lived experiences, hearing and learning from other peoples experiences, and developing a sense of safety and connection.

Virtual sessions offer increased accessibility. Join a group from a place that feels comfortable for you (confidential of course) and join one that fits your schedule and needs.

Youth skills group starts Fall 2026, open to 14 to 18 years old!

Clinical Consultations

Calm Waters is currently developing consultation teams led by one or two facilitators who have experience and training in a particular area.

The consultation team schedule is currently in progress and will be available soon!

Time/Date/Cost/Location: TBD

New clinicians! Entering the counselling field, post graduation and in private practice can be simultaneously overwhelming and exciting. It doesn’t have to be a process you navigate on your own! Calm Waters will be hosting a group tailored towards first year (or two) post grads!

Together, we will discuss ethical issues, how to navigate sticky subjects (e.g. politics) in sessions, and provide support with interventions. It is a place free of judgement, full of support, and designed to help you grow. Interested clinicians, please contact Samantha.
