Group Counselling:

Feeling alone, as though nobody else has experienced what you have? Feeling misunderstood?

If you are looking for a safe, confidential, non-judgmental space to share your experiences and learn from others who can relate, group counselling might be for you!

We offer two types of groups: skills based and process based,

Skills groups, such as DBT, focus on learning and practicing skills with less of a focus on processing personal experiences. Skills groups may have more of a classroom type feel.

Process groups hold space for talking about lived experiences, hearing and learning from other peoples experiences, and connection,

Fall 2025 Groups:

  • Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) based Skills- Starting September 2025

  • Social Anxiety - Start Date pending

  • ADHD Skills - Pending

Virtual sessions offer increased accessibility. Join a group from a place that feels comfortable for you (confidential of course) and join one that fits your schedule and needs.

Individual Counselling:

Individual counselling is offered by a number of our clinicians, each with different therapeutic approaches, experiences and primary areas of practice.

What can individual counselling help me with?

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Self confidence/self esteem

  • Substance use

  • Borderline Personality Disorder (and traits)

  • Self Harm & Suicidal Ideation

  • Life transitions

  • Relationship conflicts or interpersonal struggles

  • Trauma processing/Post Traumatic Stress

Many of our clinicians have additional training and education to help address specific concerns. Finding a counsellor can be difficult and we are here to help.

If you are interested in connecting with a clinician, see their bio on the Teams page for more details, You can also contact us if you would like support in finding the right fit!

In line with our goal of inclusivity in mental health care, many of the clinicians offer a reduced fee/low cost session option. These spaces are limited and provided to those who are experiencing financial hardships, are otherwise unable to access low cost or free services or experiencing extenuating circumstances.

Where are services provided? Currently, all individual counselling sessions are provided virtually. The availability varies based off of clinician. All clinicians are based out of British Columbia, Canada.

Do you offer direct billing? Direct billing is not available at this time. Clinicians will provide receipts that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement, if applicable. Please verify which services and service providers are a covered under your plan/benefits.

Cancellation Policy: 24 hours notice is required in order to cancel a session without a fee.

Clinical Consultations

Calm Waters is currently developing consultation teams led by one or two facilitators who have experience and training in a particular area.

The consultation team schedule is currently in progress and will be available soon!

Time/Date/Cost/Location: TBD

New clinicians! Entering the counselling field, post graduation and in private practice can be simultaneously overwhelming and exciting. It doesn’t have to be a process you navigate on your own! Calm Waters will be hosting a group tailored towards first year (or two) post grads!

Together, we will discuss ethical issues, how to navigate sticky subjects (e.g. politics) in sessions, and provide support with interventions. It is a place free of judgement, full of support, and designed to help you grow. Interested clinicians, please contact Samantha.
